“The next thing I noticed was that it felt very substantial and well made. The foams felt dense and quality, unlike many other beds I’ve tried that just feel cheap.”
-u/RecoveringIdahoan, Review of Bear Hybrid (and others!) by a 125-130lb strictly side sleeping female after 3 months
The Bear Elite Hybrid mattress is made with high-quality materials, such as dense foam layers and copper-infused foam. These foams are not only designed to provide comfort and support, but their durability ensures a long-lasting product. The mattress also incorporates breathable coils that enhance airflow, helping to maintain a cool and comfortable sleep environment. This combination of materials works together to deliver a premium feel that many users appreciate for its substantial and well-made structure.
Many people have been impressed with the Bear Elite Hybrid mattress for its sturdy and well-made feel. The foam layers are dense and durable. It provides a higher-quality experience compared to other mattresses that might feel flimsy.

“Edge support was also not good at all so whenever I tried to stay more on my side of the bed, I kept feeling like I was going to fall off the bed (and we had a King size). As a lightweight, I never felt stable on that mattress. I was constantly rolling lol.”
-u/Fun-Map-9705, My review of the bear elite hybrid mattress
The Bear Elite Hybrid mattress is constructed with individually encased coils and foam layers designed for support and comfort. However, when it comes to edge support, some users have found the reinforced coil system around the perimeter falls short. A few lightweight sleepers have shared that they felt unsteady near the edges of the mattress. This issue seems to stem from insufficient reinforcement along the perimeter, which can be uncomfortable for those who prefer sleeping closer to the edge.
While the foam adds a nice layer of comfort, it might not be firm enough to hold up against regular use around the edges. For people who rely on strong edge support, whether to spread out comfortably or for getting in and out of bed, this can be a bit of a letdown.
“Just wanted to provide some feedback regarding my bear elite hybrid in medium. Both me and my partner are on the larger side, (me 5’10” 220 and he is 6’2” 250) however lots of hip pain, and as a side sleeper, firm beds don’t work. We initially tried this in firm and it was way too hard. Got a medium and it was heavenly, until it wasn’t…..I am in the worst pain of my life with another sagging mattress…I think I’m gonna splurge and get a sleep number and call it a day”
-u/cbro375, Beginning my trial with the bear hybrid elite in luxury firm
The Bear Elite Hybrid mattress combines foam and pocketed coils to offer both support and comfort, with soft, medium and firm options available. It’s designed for cooling, motion isolation, and durability, which sounds great, especially for people looking for a mattress that can handle a bit of extra weight.
However, real user experiences show mixed results. While some people appreciate the initial comfort, others have experienced significant issues over time. Users have reported that the mattress causes discomfort, especially for side sleepers who need more contouring support.
One user shared their experience, noting that they initially assumed their back pain was due to the mattress being too soft, but they later realized it was actually too firm. They mentioned that the medium version felt firmer in the beginning but softened slightly after a couple of months.
“So I didn’t know the difference between too soft and too firm, just that my back was hurting and I made assumptions. I think I realized that it was actually too firm at first, not too soft. The medium stayed on the firmer side for the first 2-2.5 months and then softened but it’s not too “hammocky” soft. If you’re a side sleeper, maybe go with the medium. I almost returned it for a firmer mattress, but I’m glad I didn’t. No more back pain for me.”

“But the main reason I wanted to return it was: poor motion transfer and poor motion isolation. My partner weighs 180 and I weigh 120. You could feel each movement on the mattress. And when he would lay down, the bed would become uneven and I would slowly start rolling towards his side. I would wake up and find myself more on his side of the bed every morning because his weight was pulling the mattress down on his side.”
-u/Fun-Map-9705, My review of the bear elite hybrid mattress
The Bear Elite Hybrid mattress is built with individually encased coils designed to provide balanced support and promote spinal alignment. These coils are reinforced in the center to offer extra lumbar support, and the hybrid design combines pressure relief with breathability.
However, some users have shared mixed experiences about its motion isolation. For instance, a few have mentioned that while the mattress feels supportive, they could feel their partner’s movements during the night. One person shared that their partner’s weight caused the mattress to dip on one side and create a slight slope that led to an uncomfortable sleeping position. Others have noted that motion transfer can be noticeable, particularly for couples with a significant weight difference. This can suggest that it might not fully meet the expectations of those looking for excellent motion isolation.
“It generally sleeps mostly cool. I dunno if the Celliant helps it or not but it’s okay for the most part, unless you’re a crazy hot sleeper.
The quality of the mattress has also been good in my experience.”
-u/stillnsfw, Has anyone actually used a Bear Elite Hybrid?
The Bear Elite Hybrid mattress is designed with advanced cooling features, including a cool-to-the-touch and hand-quilted cushion cover made from PCM fabric, which helps regulate temperature throughout the night. It also includes an optional Celliant-infused cover with Sleep Recovery Technology to support body temperature regulation and overall wellness. The copper-infused memory foam helps draw heat away and keeps the sleep surface clean and cool.
Most users find the mattress provides adequate cooling, but it may not be enough for those who sleep extremely hot. Many report that it sleeps “mostly cool,” with the cooling effects being sufficient for average sleepers.
However, for those who sleep hot, the mattress may not meet their cooling needs entirely. Overall, the Bear Elite Hybrid mattress is praised for its solid quality, with cooling being a standout feature for many, though there are occasional concerns about heat retention for those on the warmer side.

“It had an odd smell that took 2 months to dissipate. I’m not quite sure what it was—it wasn’t musty like mold, but it was kinda funky—not that new plastic smell. It wasn’t a horrible smell, but it wasn’t a pleasant one, either. I’m not sure if it was offgassing or just smelly, but it faded. Eventually.”
-u/RecoveringIdahoan, Review of Bear Hybrid (and others!) by a 125-130lb strictly side sleeping female after 3 months
The Bear Elite Hybrid mattress is made with CertiPUR-US certified foams to ensure no harmful chemicals are used and low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). New mattresses often release VOCs during the initial off-gassing period. Some users have reported an off-gassing smell when first setting up the mattress, which typically dissipates after a few weeks. While not everyone finds the odor unbearable, it can linger for a couple of months. This experience isn’t uncommon, as many hybrid mattresses tend to have a similar issue.
It’s important to note that the smell is usually not harmful but can be unpleasant for those sensitive to it. As with any mattress, individual experiences vary. If you’re sensitive to smells, it’s helpful to air out the mattress for a few days before use.
“We’ve had the mattress for 4 years and still love it. We rotate it every 3-6 months so it gets even ware. There are no dips or lumps. Even when we’re restless we’re able to get a couple hours of decent sleep. When we’re on vacation we almost always say by the end of the week that we cannot wait to get home and climb into our own bed.”
-u/tayhayney, Bear Hybrid Mattress Review
The Bear Elite Hybrid mattress is designed with high-density support foam that offers a sturdy foundation and enhances the mattress’s longevity. This supportive base pairs well with its hybrid structure to provide consistent comfort over time and show how safe the Bear Elite Hybrid is.
Some customers mentioned that the mattress retains its shape and support even after years of use, with no noticeable dips or lumps. The sturdy construction makes it a reliable option for those looking for a durable mattress that can withstand frequent movement or restless nights.
The durability contributes to a consistently supportive sleep surface to ensure a good sleep without worrying about wear and tear. For those who prioritize lasting comfort and reliability, the Bear Elite Hybrid is a strong choice. This mattress is ideal for those seeking a durable and stable option that remains comfortable for years.
“Fortunately, their return policy is Pretty Good. They’re losing a point because they won’t take the return until you’ve had 30 days to sleep on it.”
-u/ephrion, Bear Elite Hybrid Review
The return policy for the Bear Elite Hybrid mattress is praised for being clear and straightforward. What to expect in a Bear Elite Hybrid’s trial-period includes a 120-night sleep trial that gives customers plenty of time to decide, and the process for initiating a return is hassle-free.
The Bear Elite Hybrid mattress comes with a 120-night sleep trial, which is a great offer. While some users feel the 30-day waiting period before a return is a bit of a delay, the overall return policy is seen as a positive feature.
The process is relatively easy. You just need to reach out to Bear by sending them an email. You can also ask them what to expect when returning a Bear Elite Hybrid so you know the whole process and you can prepare. They’ll arrange for pickup and offer a full refund ( less any discounts ). This makes it a low-risk option, but the 30-day waiting period can be inconvenient for those hoping to make a quicker decision about their purchase
To ensure that you don’t inadvertently void your return option, it’s important to understand how to avoid voiding a Bear Elite Hybrid’s warranty by following care guidelines and avoiding improper handling of the mattress.

“For as basic as this setup seems, I struggled to find a good one. It’s similarish to many of the Sealy/Beautyrest type builds (although they use cheesy foam). At one point, I laid down on a few $3-$5k Beautyrest Blacks. UGH! I would so much rather have my $1k Bear Hybrid. And, the similarly priced hybrids sometimes felt significantly cheaper—like those lightweight foams in the Casper Hybrid. It made me realize how high quality the Bear really is, for the cost. I also noted some of the hybrid builds tweak the foam to have a more conforming top. Like, the Leesa Hybrid SEEMS similar, but the top feel is un-tufted and flat/smooth, firmer, and yet more conforming. Unfortunately, while I initially prefer the feel of a flat top and firm conformance, with these more conforming builds, my skinny little shoulder digs in there and gets a bunch of pressure. With the Bear, the more generalized conformance smooths out pressure.”
-u/RecoveringIdahoan, Review of Bear Hybrid (and others!) by a 125-130lb strictly side sleeping female after 3 months
The Bear Elite Hybrid mattress is a high-quality and affordable option compared to more expensive hybrids like Beautyrest and Casper. It features cooling technology, a sturdy hybrid coil system, and responsive foam layers and offers a supportive and comfortable sleep experience.
Many users note that while other premium hybrids may feel more plush or conforming, they often use softer foams that can lead to discomfort, especially in pressure points. The Bear Elite Hybrid, on the other hand, uses more general conformance, smoothing out pressure without excessive sinking.
This more balanced feel prevents discomfort in areas like the shoulders, which can be an issue with mattresses that emphasize firm, conforming tops. In addition, its price point stands out, offering high-quality performance without the hefty cost of more luxurious options. However, some find it too firm, particularly if they prefer a softer, more plush surface.

The Bear Elite Hybrid mattress consistently receives praise for its build quality, with many users appreciating the dense, well-made foams that contribute to a sturdy feel. The mattress offers a comfortable sleep experience for a range of sleepers, with many reporting satisfaction in terms of pressure relief and temperature regulation.
Although some users experience minor issues with motion isolation and edge support, the overall feedback is largely positive. One of the standout features is the mattress’s durability, with many long-term users highlighting its ability to maintain shape and comfort over several years.
The return policy also garners positive reviews, with the 120-night sleep trial providing peace of mind. While some feel the 30-day waiting period for returns is a bit restrictive, the hassle-free process once the trial period ends is generally appreciated.
Many users find that the Bear Elite Hybrid gives them comparable quality to high-end mattresses at a much more affordable price. It offers the same comfort and durability found in more expensive brands but at a cheaper price.
